    This is the first four of my Reef Mugs. My intention was to design a mug that resembles the texture of Live Rock covered in healthy coraline algae.  The biggest challenge was creating the feeling of rough texture without it being sharp. With much attention to detail I was able to achieve a rough but smooth surface.
 
    All of these mugs are wheel-thrown, cone 10, soda-fired stoneware. The interior of the mugs are a glossy black glaze.
